Bulgaria's Central Bank announced it will put into circulation a colourful coin, dedicated to the beauty of Pirin national park, part of UNESCO's World Heritage list.
The coin will be put into circulation on April 12 and comes second in a series of commemorative coins, issued to honour Bulgaria's national parks and reserves.
It has weight of 23.33g and diameter of 38.61mm and will be issued in 600 copies with a nominal value of BGN 10.
The bank logo will be pictured on the front side of the coin, while its backside will feature endangered species that the park houses, including the edelweiss, a symbol of Pirin.
Located in south-west Bulgaria, Pirin has a limestone Balkan landscape, with lakes, waterfalls, caves and pine forests. The rugged mountains, with some 70 glacial lakes scattered throughout them, are home to hundreds of endemic and rare species, many of which are representative of the Balkan Plistocene flora.
