Snow Covers Mountains in Bulgaria, Lower Parts See Warm, Sunny Weather

Novinite, 12 Oct. 2007

Snow is expected to fall over the high mountains in Bulgaria in few days, while the lowest parts of the country will see warm and sunny weather, forecasts say.

The temperatures will drop by up to 12C in the forthcoming weekend. The cold spell is likely to be accompanied by frost blanket in the same period.

The warm weather is expected to come back for a couple of days, starting October 15, when the mercury will zoom up to 27C.

The warm spell is to be followed by heavy downpours in the end of this month, meteorologists reported.

The average temperatures in November will be between 6C and 10C.

Snow will cover the ground in the last days of November due to the Atlantic winds, which will pass over the Balkans in this period.

The thickness of the snow blanket in the mountains is predicted to reach up to 70 centimetres.

The month of December is expected to be colder than last year with maximum temperatures between 3C and 8C.

Forecasters warn Bulgarians should be ready for a really severe winter, as cold weather will stay at least until the beginning of February.
