The National Competition for Excellent Tourism Destination was Announced in Haskovo

The aims and criteria for participation in the national competition “Excellent Tourism destination, related to the protected territories” was announced in Haskovo by the State Tourism Agency, lead by the head of the agency Mrs. Anelia Krushkova.
The competition is developed under the frames of the European program EDEN 2008, which this year is held under the motto “Tourism and protected territories”, explained Krushkova.

The Bulgarian title is “952: The nature welcomes you”, the numbers represent the number of protected territories in Bulgaria until August last year. Mrs. Krushkova added that this year the protected territories in Bulgaria are already 953.
Thus Bulgaria proved to be the country with the biggest ratio protected territories compared to all other countries in the European Union.

The best destinations from each European country will form the new tourism map of Europe – by including less familiar tourism sites from not very well developed tourism destinations.

The project aims to popularize regions in Bulgaria which are not so popular among the Bulgarian and European tourists.
