National Symbols of Bulgaria to be chosen in May

SofiaEcho, 05 April 2007

Bulgarians will get the chance to select national symbols starting April 4, head of Bulgarian Association for Business and Tourist Information (BABTI) Daniela Simidcheva said.

Symbols are divided into three categories. The first one includes natural landmarks and cultural and historic heritage. The second category will show symbols of Bulgarian customs and traditions and the third one will present Bulgarian folklore and cuisine.

The campaign aims to find out which symbols Bulgarians believe should represent the country.

So far BABTI has suggested 33 symbols. Voting on all suggestions will begin on May 31.

The voting will continue until December 24 and the results will be announced in the beginning of January 2008.
