European Long Night of Museums Taking Place in Bulgaria

Museums in Bulgaria will take part in the European initiative The Long Night of Museums.
More that 60 museums and galleries in the country will show exhibitions for free on May 18 2007.

Photo exhibitions, musical performances and multimedia presentations will be part of the initiative.

The event is held to commemorate the international day of museums.

The Long Night of Museums was first organised in Berlin in January 1997 when museums stayed opened until late in the night. The event attempted to attract audience to cultural institutions.

The number of institutions and countries taking part in the initiative grows very year. Such events were held in Austria, Liechtenstein, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Poland.

Bulgaria hosted the initiative for the first time on September 30 2005 in Plovdiv.
