An international team of scientists will examine Bulgaria’s Black Sea ecosystems, a Cabinet press release said.
Research is part of EU’s SEAAME project. As part of it, the Bulgarian government will allow Aegaeo ship, traveling under Greek flag, to remain in the Bulgarian coastal region from October 4 to 15 2007.
Two Bulgarian scientists will be part of the international team. The Bulgarian ship Academic will take part in the inspections to be carried out in the western part of the Bulgarian Black Sea region.
Predicting ecosystem changes in the Black and Mediterranean seas features among the main research goals. Scientists will also analyse the opportunities these changes present for development of production and services like tourism.
The project started in 2006 and will be carried out in a four-year term. Its co-ordinator is the marine research centre of Greece.
