Standard daily, 07 June 2007

Students will pass their practical cooking courses in kitchens worth one million levs and improve their qualification all over the world. The international college in Albena has stable traditions in training chefs.

This autumn, the first Culinary Academy in Eastern Europe opens doors in Dobrich. Students will pass courses in cooking in kitchens, fitted with appliances worth one million levs (about 500,000 euro). Such equipment can be seen in five-star hotels in London and New York, announced the founders of the Academy - the International Albena College and HRC International.

Some 20-30 students will be admitted the first year, and the Academy's teaching capacity will be 140 students. The training will last two years and will be held in English only, the organizers said.
The students will have the chance to gain experience during five-month paid qualification courses in prestigious restaurants and hotel chains in the USA, Belgium and other countries.

Apart from culinary skills, the young professionals will learn details about the world of drinks - the combinations between dishes and wines, for example. The opening of a special wine cellar is envisaged for this purpose.
The semester tuition for EU students will be 784 Euro, and the students from other countries will pay 1568 Euro.
