German hunter pays 37,000 Euro for the animal's antlers
A hunter from Denmark got an unforgettable trophy, after shooting down a huge moufflon in a Bulgarian hunting reserve. The moufflon was the largest game bred in this country for the last 20 years. "The animal was shot near Cherni Lom game park," said Yordan Radoslavov, director of the game park. The moufflon was prized with 235 points, which is by only 5 points less than the 1986 national big game record, set at the Voden game reserve.
A huntsman from Germany paid 37,000 Euro for the antlers from a royal stag. The trophy weighs 14.30 kg.
"It's been the best hunting season in 9 years," Radoslavov added.
The revenues from hunting tourism are expected to exceed 200,000 Euro. Up until now, nearly 20 enthusiastic hunters from Germany, Denmark, Spain and France have tried their luck in Bulgaria's game reserves, chasing about 1,200 royal stags, 600 wild boars, 200 fallow deers, around 30 moufflons, does, and other big game. About as many foreign hunters are expected to visit Bulgaria by the end of this year's shooting season.
