The “Tiptseto” cave in the Rodope Mountain was studied by archaeologies. The project was initiated by Smolyan Municipal and is finalized by PHARE program.
Specialists have found bones from cave bear and prehistoric pottery, which proves that “Tiptseto” was inhabited by the ancient residents of the Rodope Mountain.
Archaeologists found out that the cave is even and dry, suitable for living and was used by the ancient residents for a temporary shelter.
The earliest traces date back from the bronze epoch, from the middle of the fourth millennium before Christ, announced the archaeologist Mr. Nikolai Boyadzhiev.
The cave is relatively small; around 70 m long and its walls are decorated with prehistoric paintings.
The cave dwelling was reconstructed and is included in a tourism route, which will be offered to tourists next summer.
