Bulgaria spends 40 million BGN on national advertisement

Bulgaria will spend more than 40 million BGN to advertise the attractions of the country in 2009. The budget of the State Tourism Agency is 10 million BGN but the total sum is much higher because of the “Regional development” program.

10.6 milion BGN will be invested in the media advertisement. 4.2 million BGN will be put into TV commercials on CNN International, Eurosport and Euronews. Another 4 million BGN are allocated to short movies, which will be emitted in Russia and Scandinavian countries. Eurosport is chosen too because of the numerous sport events as the world ski championship and tennis tournaments, which will take place in Bulgaria next year. The Print advertisements cost 1.1 million BGN and the PR actions – 367 000 BGN. The total price of the video production is 1.5 million BGN.

90 000 BGN are allocated to Internet advertisement. Google, Yahoo and the home pages of the most popular tourist sites are the most attractive advertising spots. 9.4 million BGN will be spent on the international tourism exhibitions.

The leading message of the campaign is “Bulgaria – the nature welcomes you!” As the different markets require individual slogans, the message in Russia will be “Bulgaria – so close to you”. The Japanese will be attracted with the motto “Bulgaria – land of ancient civilisations”.
