Red Bull Powder Kick competition in the Rila Mountains

The international ski free ride competition – Red Bull Powder Kick, will take place in the region of Rilski Ezera (Rila Lakes) lodge in the Rila Mountains from 19 till 22 of February. Some of the best free ride skiers from Bulgaria and abroad will take part in the contest.

The president of IFSA (International Freeskiers Association) Jim Jack is a special guest and a Chairman of the jury of the competition. He arrives in Bulgaria on the 18th of February. Jim Jack said: “I’m very excited to be a part of Red Bull Powder Kick, high the Rila Mountains. This contest started many years ago and it deserves an international recognition”.

The Prize fund of the competition is 3500 EUR. 50 riders (men and women) will be admitted to complete the qualifications and the best 20 of them will be admitted to the final run.

Thursday (19 February):
10:00 - 18:30 – Arrival and accommodation
17:00 - 19:30 - Registration of the riders
20:00 - 20:30 – Competitors briefing
21:00 - Welcome party

Friday (20 February):
07:30 - 08:30 – Mandatory Training (Course inspection)
09:00 - Qualifications start
19:30 - Ranking for final run

Saturday (21 February):
08:30 – 10:00 – Mandatory Training (Course inspection)
11:00 - Start final run
20:00 – Prize giving ceremony and party

Sunday (22 February):
Weather date - in case of bad weather on Saturday

The riders have to meet the following equipment requirements:

• snow helmet - compulsory;
• avalanche beacon - compulsory;
• backprotector - compulsory;
• backpack - compulsory;
• avalanche shovel and probe - recommended
