Bulgaria's Foreign Tourism Revenue up by 1,3% in Jan-Sept 2009

Bulgaria’s revenue from international tourist visits in the first nine months of 2009 amounts to EUR 2,271 B, which is a 1,3% increase compared to the same period of 2008.

This becomes clear from data released Thursday by the Ministry of Economy, Energy, and Tourism.

In this first ten months of 2009 – January-October – Bulgaria was visited by 5 281 220 foreign tourists not counting transit passengers, which is a decrease of only 0,2% compared to their number in the first ten months of 2008.

Of those, 75,7% or 3 998 854 tourists were citizens of other EU countries, which is a 2,9% increase compared to the same period of 2008.
