The direction of natural park “Rila Monastery” started the project with funds from the Global ecology fund for the popularizing of tourism and preservation of the biological diversity in the region.
The name of the project is “the natural garden of Natural Park “Rila Monastery”. National community “Hristo Botev” and the municipal Rila town and the Southwestern University “Neofit Rilski” in Blagoevgrad are partners in the project.
The project aims to construct and mark several botanic routes in the directions of the main tourism trails, which cross the territory of the park, explained the head of the park eng. Vangel Avramov.
The representatives of the flora, protected species and endemites will be designated in appropriate manner. Professional guides will entertain tourists and will show them the biological diversity, the types and significance of the plants, the ways for their protection and their preservation.
A Guide book for the routes will be published, to instruct tourists how to behave when walking through a protected site or attraction. The idea is to engage people, tourists and owners of hotels and chalets with the preservation of nature.
The project will provide opportunities for temporary monitoring on the condition of the flora and fauna species, for the conditions of the tourism flow and the decrease of the traffic flow through the “Rilo Monastery forest” reserve.
