National conference “Travelling to Bulgaria” in Shoumen

National conference “Travelling to Bulgaria. Journey in medieval Bulgaria and the present-day tourism” takes place in Shoumen from 08.05 to 11.05.2008. The organizers of the event aim to present the most important Bulgarian medieval centres in Shoumen region and the archaeological founds and historical documents, related to them.
The meeting is arranged by the Bulgarian Scientist Union, National institute and museum of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Shoumen University and the Municipality of Shoumen. Archaeologists and historians of reputation will take part in the conference. Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and the Association of the guides will be among the participants too.
The official opening of the conference will be at 09 o’clock on the 9th of May in the Regional museum of History in Shoumen. The event takes place under the patronage of the President of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov. The program of the conference includes trips to the local archaeological sites.
