Expert.bg

The Municipality of Banite village develops a project for the protection of threatened animals, birds and plants. The existing eco routes will be renovated and several new trails will be promoted this year.

Six new eco trails will take the visitors to the local landmarks of the village. The project of the Zagrazhdenska eco path has been already finalized. It was started in 2007. The route is provided with great variety of facilities, which help to overcome the hardest sections of the terrain. The march through the Zagrazhdenska eco path takes about four hours and the meanders of Zagrazhdenska River, waterfalls and rock formations are among the landmarks of the region.

The eco tourism is powered by “Banite-Doksato – the green corridors of the Rodopean ecosystem” project with 156 562 Euro. There is 2 kilometres long park near the river. 12 kilometres long, mountain bike route was built between Krastatitsa and Starnitsa villages. Another eco trail was developed between the villages of Banite, Vishnevo, Galabovo and Dyavolskia most (The Devil’s Bridge). The trail is 12 kilometres long too and it is well marked with many beautiful sites for a rest and picnic.

The municipality needs to increase the accommodation capacity which is 550 beds up to this moment. The construction of several family hotels started since 2007 with a total number of 450 beds. This opens new opportunities for the tourism developing in the region except the balneology, which made Banite village famous. Half of the mineral water debit is not in use yet, so there are plans for the construction of a factory for water bottling.
