Dnevnik daily

German-based hotel chain Worldhotels said it is in franchise talks with several hotels in Bulgaria.

The company is interested in the whole Central and Eastern European region where demand is on the rise, said Robert van der Graaf, senior manager business development EMEA.

The executive said Worldhotels is currently looking at Sofia and is exploring the opportunities to brand existing as well as hotels still under construction.

The first Worldhotels launch in Bulgaria should be expected by the end of 2008, said van der Graaf, withholding the names of the targeted hotels.

The company is interested in local hotels with three to five stars and at least 50 rooms.

Worldhotels manages a portfolio of more than 500 hotels and resorts in more than 300 destinations and 70 countries worldwide.

Some of the major international hotel operators doing business here include Sheraton, Radisson, Kempinski, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Best Western.
