Since 2001 the International Ski Federation (FIS) established the tradition for the Big Air snowboard competitions to be staged in the cities of Europe. The organizers of these events would combine them with concerts featuring world famous musicians that would as a rule attract 20,000 to 40,000 teenage fans. Until now, Munich, Berlin, Salzburg, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Milan, Turin and Rotterdam hosted the Big Air World Cup rounds. But this year, for the first time, Sofia will be the second stop of the World Cup tour. The other venues will be Stockholm, Rotterdam, Graz and Moscow. The Bulgarian organizers of the grand event are the Bulgarian Ski Federation, Bulgarian Ski Pool, Sofia City Municipality who will be working hand in hand with FIS' Snowboard Committee. Sofia City Mayor Boyko Borissov will chair the Bulgarian organizational committee.
