Double-decker sightseeing tours hit Sofia streets in May

SofiaEcho, Elena Koinova

City Sightseeing Bulgaria plans to become the first company to offer bus tours in Sofia downtown, company official Branislava Nedyalkova told Dnevnik daily.

The firm would present detailed plans on February 22 2008, at the Holiday&Spa expo at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in Sofia.

Although it is yet to make a final decision on the routes that would be used for the tours and the locations for photo stops, but it hopes to launch the service in May, Nedyalkova said.

At the start, the company would offer four rides every day, starting 10am, at noon, 2pm and 4pm. Each ride would last around 90 minutes and cost 12 leva. Tourist information will be presented in Bulgarian, English and German.

Tourists looking to see the sights of the Bulgarian capital have either had to show ingenuity with mapping out own routes or rely on a local guide to show them around the points of interest. The traditional must-see sites are Sveta Nedelya Church, the Russian Church, the Archaeological Museum, St. Alexander Nevski cathedral and the Boyana church.
