Der Blaue Affe/The Blue Monkey (Carsten Unger, 2006, 45 minutes) will open the Sixth International Short Film Festival - In the Palace in Sofia on May 31 in Lumiere cinema.
The festival takes place annually in the Black sea town of Balchik between June 23 and 30. However, for first time this year the organisers decided to offer viewers a challenge to pick the 10 Bulgarian and 10 foreign films that will compete for the first place in Balchik. All films have English subtitles.
The selection will take place on June 7-8, Saturday and Sunday, as a 36-hour film marathon in the Red House for Culture and Debate on 15 Luben Karavelov street (starting at 11 am on June 7), when the viewers will vote for their favorites, festival organiser Tsanko Vassilev told a news conference on May 27.
The candidate films will be screened in alphabetical order.
