Sofia's ice skating rink "Ariana" opened

One of the attractions of Sofia, the ice skating rink in the Ariana lake in the “Borissova gradina” park next to the Orlov Most (Eagles' Bridge) was opened on 12 December 2009.

The total area of the ice skating rink in Ariana lake is 1600 sq m. It is the biggest open ice rink on the Balkans.


The ice rink will be open 24 hours a day. The price per hour is 3 leva during the working days and 4 leva at weekends. Children can skate for free every day between 8am and 10 am.


The history of “Ariana lake” dates back to 1879 when the construction of the lake starts. It is finished in 1904. The first ice-skating rink in Sofia has been made exactly there.

During the years Ariana and the “Borissova gradina” park became favourite places for leisure time activities in the Bulgarian capital.
