Third great exhibition in the museum of history in Varna

Third national exhibition - “Bulgarian treasures – Gods, Masks, Humans” will be opened at 4 p.m. in the regional museum of history in Varna. The minister of culture, Stefan Danailov is expected as an official guest of the event.

74 ancient founds will be presented at the exhibition. The treasures date back from 6th to 3th century B.C. The exhibition presents the religious philosophy and the spiritual immortality of Thracians, Hellenes and Romans, who inhabited Bulgarian lands during the Antiquity. The exposition includes some of the master pieces of the ancient art in Bulgaria.

The masks take special place in the exhibition. War and parade headpieces, funeral, and theatrical masks will be show in the museum.

The golden mask of the Thracian king Teres will be the accent of the exhibition. The mask was found in the “Svetitsata” (The saint) mound in the Valley of the Thracian kings, near Kazanlak. Marble statue of Orpheus and the statue of the goddess Kibela found in Balchik will be also spots of interest at the exhibition.

The National archaeological institute and museum of BAS (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences), National museum of history in Sofia, The Regional museums of history in Bourgas, Stara Zagora, Blagoevgrad, Vidin, Pleven, Lovech, Veliko Tarnovo, Razgrad, Silistra, Balchik, Devnya, Svishtov and Petrich also will take part in the axhebition with their exponents.

The forthcoming exposure emphasizes on the unique monuments of the ancient art. Many of them are recently found or never shown to this moment. The entrance tax is 5 BGN for groups and 10 BGN for individual visitors.
