Veliko Tarnovo is the First Bulgarian City to Say Goodbye to Plastic Bags in Bulgaria.

Veliko Tarnovo will be the first city without plastic bags, informs Yantra today newspaper.

The plastic bags will be substituted with bags from a material that dissolves 50 times faster than nylon.
Participants in the national campaign 'Steady organic polluters – the unknown threat' will suggest in March to the Veliko Tarnovo municipal council to make normative changes to substitute the plastic bags with alternative ones.

The introduction of bags made of alternative material should become obligatory in order to prevent the spreading of steady organic polluters, which harm the human health and the environment.

The campaign is financed by the Program for small projects of the Global environmental fund, which grants 25,000 EUR. It is implemented by the 'Blue Link' foundation in cooperation with Environmental information study center, 'Black sea NGOs network' association and 'Missionis'.
