The Regional Council of Vidin Takes Initiative for the Recovery of the Local Airport

The regional council eng. Krastio Spasov pleads before the Minister of Transport Mr. Petar Mutafchiev, to propose airport Vidin for a concession. The reason for the demanded cooperation are the particular investment intentions, notified from Bulgarian and foreign companies.

During the last year three proposals for the concession of Vidin Airport were introduced in the Region council. The last one was presented by a German contractor on 11 October 2007. The investors offer the airport to accept disaster airplanes, emergency teams of Civil Protection, medical airplanes, emergency helicopters and etc.
The Regional administration has taken actions for the problem with the ownership of the land in the zones of the flying field.

“The recovery of airport Vidin, the construction of the Danube Bridge 2, the modernization of the rail way Vidin – Sofia and the whole recovery of the road infrastructure will transform Vidin into a contemporary transport and communication centre, which is the main goal of the strategy for the region until 2015.”
The initiative of the regional council is supported by local and foreign business enterprisers.
