Vidin medieval fortress attracted 50 000 tourists per year

For the past few years the Vidin fortress has attracted about 50 000 tourists per year, according to Fionera Filipova, Director of the Regional History Museum in Vidin, cited Darik Radio. This trend continued for several consecutive years.

Foreign tourists arrived by cruise ships on the Danube. The fortress host wedding ceremonies and private parties.

The Danube city of Vidin is the center of Bulgaria's Northewestern region, which is the poorest region in the EU under the NUTS 2 classification. The historic landmark has been restored for the last time in 60s of XX century.
