The Cave drawings preserved from the prehistoric period in the Magura Cave will apply for the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Belogradchik Municipality has already started the applying procedure.

The cave drawings depict cult and hunting scenes, dancing women and men’s figures and the annual sun calendar. The pictures are 12 000 years old. These are cultural human evidences from the prehistoric period until the Bronze Age.

There are 34 caves of different types in the region of Belogradchik. Not only the Belogradchik Rocks and the Magura Cave are famous tourist sites in this region, but also one of the unique reserves of natural woods in Europe - Chuprene.

Belogradchik Municipality aims to develop the region as a tourism destination of cultural-historical significance.
