Bulgarian ski resort operator Pamporovo AD has made investments of over BGN 1 million in preparations for the winter season, the company's majority shareholder, Tsvetelina Borislavova, said.
The figure was announced at the ceremony marking the launch of the ski season at the eponymous Rhodope Mountains resort over the weekend. The resort is now equipped with a track with lighting for night skiing stretching between Snezhanka and Studenets and with a new system for artificial snow.
The tracks have been updated and expanded as part of preparations for hosting a round of the European Cup for men in 2012. The resort operator has also cut the price of the seasonal ski pass to BGN 950 from BGN 1,480 and will also offer discounts for two-week passes.
Police patrols, fluent in foreign languages, will monitor the tracks. The discovery of mineral waters nearby to be used for SPA tourism is another news of the season at Pamporovo.
