Bulgarian Students Organize Fifth International Film Festival in Balchik

The fifth International Short Film Festival in Balchik, organised by Bulgarian university students, will take place between September 9 and 15 2007.

The event can be attended for free by all short film fans, according to Focus news agency.

The 2007 edition of the festival includes participants from 62 countries.

Two film challenges will take place as part of the festival. A 48-hour film challenge which consist of the complete production of a film, from scripting and shooting to film montage, within 48 hours. The other challenge will be to create a social advertisement in 24 hours.

The best films will be presented at other events and film festivals worldwide later in the year.

Jealousy, Effort, Bird of Joy and Broken Wings feature among Bulgarian films in the festival competition.

Jury members include producers Barry Hanson, Faisal Qureshi, and Matjaz Ivanisin.

Organisers of the event are Culture Ministry, State Cultural Institute - Cultural Centre Dvoreca, Balchik municipality, Bulgarian telecommunication company (BTC) and Goethe Institut.
