Latest report from Osogovo ski centre

Numerous keen skiers are flocking in Osogovo ski centre for another downhill on the slope.
All skiers and snowboarders enjoy the perfect weather and excellent ski cover in the resort. According to them, the winter attractions in Bulgaria should be improved and developed.

The drag lift in the resort is operating since 1994 and is the only private drag lift in Bulgaria. The owners are already working for the development of the resort.

2011 Brought EUR 3.2 B in Revenues for Bulgarian Tourism

The head of the Bulgarian Tourist Chamber - Mr Tsvetan Tonchev, has described 2011 as a good year for Bulgarian tourism.

The sector saw good revenues in 2011 despite the financial crisis, Tonchev said in a Thursday interview.

He pointed out that the past year had fetched EUR 2.7 B in revenues from foreign tourists and BGN 1 B in revenues from Bulgarian tourists.

Bulgaria, Germany and Andorra offer Europe's best-value skiing

Bulgaria, Germany and Andorra offer best-value skiing in Europe, TripAdvisor announces.
The web site compares prices in 34 popular European ski destinations.

The estimation is based on the combined cost of one night’s hotel accommodation, one day’s ski pass, one day’s basic ski hire, a local meal and a bottle of beer.

Topping the list for affordability is Bulgaria’s Bansko with a total cost of just £108, while Italy’s Mount Etna took second place with £117.73 and Germany’s Berchtesgaden...

New Ski Slope in Srebarna

A dirt road near Sreberna in northeastern Bulgaria, has been converted into a beginner ski slope.

The idea for the facility occurred to Georgi Ivanov, Mayor of Srebarna.

"I want tourists to come to Sreberna in winter too, and there are many people who travel long distances to practice the sport," Ivanov said, as cited by Radio Shumen.

The northeastern village is popular for the Srebarna Nature Reserve situated in its vicinity.

Marc Girardelli Registers Own Bulgarian Wine Brand

The world famous 5-time skiing champion Marc Girardelli has registered his own wine brand, released by Bulgarian wine producers Domaine Boyar.

The Austrian skier, who has won renown competing for Luxembourg, has long been connected to Bulgaria and has fallen in love with Bulgarian wine.

Among other things, Girardelli is an official face of Bulgarian top ski resort Bansko.
