53% of the Tourists Use Internet to Choose a Hotel and Holiday Destination

In December 2008, the hotels’ managers in Pamporovo Resort and the municipalities of Smolyan and Devin started a research of the opinion of the tourists about the hotels and holidays services in the region. It lasted 4 mounts but the number of the filled questionnaires was much smaller than it was expected. The organizers explained that this kind of research was made for the first time and the hotels have no experience to gather the feedbacks yet. The research will be combined with a serious informational campaign next year. However, the results gave significant information about the development of the tourists’ services.

53% of the tourists use Intrenet to choose their holiday destination and hotel. The reason is that the clients want to establish a personal contact with their hosts. Britain’s, Russians a Macedonians are the main international tourists. The visitors from Greece, Serbia and Romania were also attracted by Pamporovo last season. The number of the English tourists dropped a little, compared to the previous years.

The infrastructure is the main problem of Pamporovo Resort, according to the most of the visitors. 92% are very satisfied with services of the chambermaids and the ski instructors. 89% of the tourists are pleased with the booking system and its reliability, and Internet is the most convenient way to make a reservation. The hotels in Pamporovo Resort will continue the initiative next year.
