The municipality administration plans to transform Varna into a centre for sport tourism. This was announced by the mayor of Varna Mr. Cyril Yordanov. In 2010 Varna will host two European competitions for modern pentathlon.
The mayor announced that the new base for extreme sports in Asparuhovo neighbourhood will be used for some of the sport events.

The ski season in Bansko will be officially opened on 12th December 2009

Bansko ski resort is already preparing the ski slopes for the forecoming ski season in the Pirin Mountain. The snow cannons are already operating, preparing a solid base for a perfect snow cover.
The resort will be opened for skiing on 01 December, but the official opening ceremony will take place on 12th December 2009.

The regional governor of Vidin stated that the local airport will be given on concession. The regional administration is now searching for experts, who can make an assessment for the concession and to define the time needed for its completion.

A team of Bulgarian archaeologists have discovered a new tomb of an aristocrat from Ancient Thrace near the southern town of Nova Zagora.

The team led by archaeologist Veselin Ignatov found a burial tomb of 12 square meters date back to the end of 1st century and beginning of 2nd century AD. It is located outside of the village of Karanovo.
