OVER THE RAINBOW on 5th September

The legend Joe Lynn Turner, the vocal of the cult band of mid 70’s RAINBOW, arrives for a free concert in Kavarna on September 5th.
OVER THE RAINBOW is the name of Joe Lynn Turner’s last project, which started in 2008 and the reason to see the star in Bulgaria. OVER THE RAINBOW collects mainly former musicians, playing in one or other period of existence of RAINBOW.

New attractions at University Botanical Garden, Balchik

The University Botanical Garden in Balchik on the Northern Black Sea coast, offers new attractions to nature lovers.

The collection of decorative vegetables is curious to see for the incredible colors and shapes of the plants. The geography of the new sector with floating plants reaches as far as the Himalayas. These include the Sweetflag, the Dwarf Papyrus and the Water Hyacinth.

10th Lacework Festival in Kalofer

On 15 August the town of Kalofer, Central Bulgaria, played host for the 10th time to a Lacework Festival.

Collections of Kalofer lace were displayed and an open-air bazaar was organized in the town.

Lace knitting was introduced in Kalofer in the early 20 c. as a way to boost the town’s economy.

In 1910 the first specialized school opened with a focus on shuttle Brussels lace. Based on a dozen imported plaits, the Kalofer masters of the trade created 110 original ones.

Archaeologists Present Medieval Relics in Veliko Tarnovo

"The Middle Ages in Bulgarian history are not 'dark'". With these words prof Nikolay Ovcharov and Associate Professor Hitko Vachev presented part of the artifacts dated back to 12 or 17th century unearthed during the excavations in "St. Peter and St. Paul" and "St. Ivan Rilski" churches in the town of Veliko Tarnovo. Musicians from 20 countries in Bansko’s 12th jazz festival

More than 150 musicians from 20 countries attend the 12th edition of the Bansko Jazz Festival. The event will spread until August 13, featuring Russia’s Igor Butman, James Davies – USA, Bulgarian jazz singer Kamelia Todorova, prominent jazz musicians from Holland, Israel, Egypt, Germany, Austria and other countries. Organizers expect at least 20 thousand people in Bansko during the six days of the jazz festival.
