An ancient sorcerer’s village was found by archaeologists during rescue excavations in the Rhodope Mountain. The scientists found almost 50 pits, where mysterious cult acts were taking place.

The site was inhabited during the eighth millennium B.C. and the sacrifices were committed until the late medieval ages.
The settlement comes under the trace of the trans-European corridor for Greece. Archaeologists found burned stones, pottery, parts of iron blades and pieces of raw meat.

A record number of tourists are expected to visit one of Bulgaria's top Black Sea attractions, the Kaliakra Cape.

The Kavarna Municipality, where the Kaliakra Cape is located, has announced that the visitors would probably be more than 600 000 by the end of 2009.

In 2008, the Cape was visited by about 500 000 tourists but their number has already been surpassed in the months of 2009 so far.

The mayor of Smolyan Dora Yankova has issued an order suspending construction works at ski resort Pamporovo from December 1 till March 30. The ban aims to ensure the winter tourist season. The freeze also affects the nearby village of Stoykite.

Bansko mountain resort in the Pirin Mountain celebrates its official holiday today. The holiday is marked at the date of the announcement of the Balkan war in 1912, when the town was liberated from ottoman rule by the band of Hristo Chernopeev.
