Kystendil Spa and Wellness

General Information: Kustendil spa resort is situated in the western part of Bulgaria, in the fertile Kyustendil valley. It lies along the two watersides of the Banska River. Kyustendil and its vicinities are famous as the “fruit garden of Bulgaria”. It is also a well-known balneology resort and a regional centre.
Kyustendil is one of the most ancient Bulgarian towns. The Thracians founded a settlement in the region V-IV century BC, attracted by the healing mineral springs. During the I century AC, the Romans transformed the town into an important stronghold and a famous spa resort. They used to call it Pautalia.

The Mineral Water in Kyustendil: The mineral water in the region is supplies from countless sources- natural springs and wells and has an almost constant chemical composition and temperature (71 – 73 ̊ C). It is hot, with pleasant taste and light odor of hydrogen sulphide, and light concentration of minerals. The total capacity of the mineral springs in the resort is 2 400 l/min.
The medical and prophylactic qualities of the mineral water are due to the sulphides, the high temperature, the hypotonic effect, light mineralization and the relatively high content of fluoride.
