174 Cross the Balkan Mountains down Levski's Steps

A Russian, two Americans and an Englishman will take part in the national tourist march "Along the Apostle's Steps" due to start on Thursday. Total 174 people volunteered for crossing the Balkan Mountains on foot. They will start in six groups on routes of varying levels of difficulty. They will gather in Karlovo for Vassil Levski's birthday - July 19.

New little octopus in Varna aquarium

One month old octopus from the Indian ocean is the new member of Varna aquarium, reported radio “Focus” - Varna.

The little octopus is long over 30 centimeters. More than 100 offers for names was given in a competition for choosing the name to the new member of the aquarium.

Military airport in the Bulgarian resort Balchik became civil

Military airport in the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Balchik will be transform into a civil, wrote “Klasa”. The project is evaluated for 30 million Bulgarian leva.

Part of the charter flights will arrived in Balchik during the summer seasons. The project is funded by the Bulgarian national budget.

Bulgarian town of Plovdiv boasts increase of tourist visits

The number of Bulgarian and foreign tourists, who have visited the second largest city in Bulgaria - Plovdiv, has increased significantly.

The data comes from the Tourist Informational Center in downtown Plovdiv, cited by the local daily "Maritsa."

In June 2011, there have been 300 more visitors of the Center, seeking information, compared to June 2010.

Strandzha mountain tipped for joint Bulgarian-Turkish project with UNESCO status

The border Strandzha Mountain should become a joint Bulgarian-Turkish project for non-material cultural heritage that should seek UNESCO status, Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov has proposed upon welcoming his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.
