Vidin medieval fortress attracted 50 000 tourists per year

For the past few years the Vidin fortress has attracted about 50 000 tourists per year, according to Fionera Filipova, Director of the Regional History Museum in Vidin, cited Darik Radio. This trend continued for several consecutive years.

Foreign tourists arrived by cruise ships on the Danube. The fortress host wedding ceremonies and private parties.

Dolphins herd in the sea near "Trakata", Varna

In the sea waters near Varna place “Trakata” people can see a herd of dolphins.

The herd is consist of more than 30 big dolphins. Fisher mans in the area said that it is a usual natural attraction.

Dolphins followed a passage of small fish witch is hiding in the shore rocks. The beautiful view makes fisher mans discontent because dolphins scared the fish.

80 % of Bulgarians prefer local sea resorts

More than 79% of Bulgarians have chosen the sea resorts in Bulgaria for their summer breaks, the reasons being mainly financial, a new poll has showed.

Only 15% of the 300 participants in the poll, conducted by Synovate, intend to travel abroad during their summer breaks. Among them, most prefer Greece (32%) and Turkey (22%).

41% of their compatriots who have chosen local sea resorts have pointed out their relative cheapness as the main reason. The Bulgarians who have decided to visit...

Six Bulgarian towns nominated for European Capital of Culture

Bulgarian towns nominated for the European Capital of Culture in 2019 are Sofia, Varna, Bourgas, Plovdiv, Veliko Tarnovo and Rousse. The official promote of Rousse will be discussed at the session of the town counselors.

Bulgarian and Italian invitation for the prestigious title will be published on 31 December 2012. The result of their choices will be announced on 31 December 2014.
