The governmental Agency of Tourism announced that Bulgaria was chosen for a member of the two of the most important committees of the World Tourism Organization for the period 2007 – 2009.
The choise was made during the General Assembly of WTO, which is now taking place in Kartagena, Columbia. 700 participants from the 153 countries, members and 500 associated and affiliated members of the organization. Bulgaria signed on Tuesday two operational programmes with the EU, under which the country will receive EUR 3,1 Bil. in funding for the 2007-2013 period.
The European Commission approved the transport and environment operational programmes for Bulgaria earlier this month.
The operational programmes involve community support for the whole national territory within the framework of the convergence objective, the EU said in a statement.

Wizz Air announced the launch of new flights from the capital Sofia to the coastal town of Varna, becoming the first low-cost airline to operate domestic flights in Bulgaria.
The maiden flight will take off on 12 July 2008 and will be initially operated four times a week.
Regular one-way fares start from EUR 9.99, including all taxes and charges.

Terrachim 97, the local manufacturer of plastic packaging products, said it will invest 20 mln levs in a retail and entertainment complex in Gabrovo, Northern Bulgaria. Bulgaria is the land of the probably first letter script culture in the world - the one of Thracian- Besses, dated on XIII Century B.C.
This claims the Orpheus explorer Nikolai Gigov.
