Number of Malls in Bulgaria Grow

The number of shopping centres outside Sofia is on the rise, Index Imoti reported.

Five such projects have already sprung up in Varna, one of which is under construction.

Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Rousse, Vidin and Bansko are also planned for their first shopping malls.

In Sofia, retail space in shopping centres rent for 25-55 euro per sq m. In Varna they cost 20-60 euro per sq m, and 9-50 euro per sq m is the monthly price in Plovdiv.

Italian-led JV to build 80 mln euro yacht marina in Ahtopol

The Bulgarian city of Ahtopol, on the Black Sea, has a set up a joint venture with several Italian companies for the construction of a yacht marina.

The Yachtopolis joint venture has already handed the municipal council in Tsarevo, which has jurisdiction over Ahtopol, a letter of intent concerning the project, said Georgi Martinov, one of the company's executive directors.

Hollywood Moves to Perperikon

The ancient Thracian city of Perperikon and the surface tomb of Orpheus near Tatul, in the Rhodope Mountain, will soon be turned into a shooting ground for Hollywood. Supernova, Hollywood Film Company has chosen the area for the set of its new film production. The movie to be shot there soon will be of the rank for an Oscar Film Award.
"This will be a movie for treasure-hunters, beautiful women and corruption," said the film producer Ralitsa Hofstetter in the town of Kardzhali.

Borovets Ski Resort To Double in Size by 2010

Long standing plans by Borosport, the company that owns the ski facilities at
Bulgaria’s oldest, largest, and until the arrival of Bansko, best known resort of Borovets, to invest in the ski centre have now been formally announced and approved.

Borosport will spend 35.7 million euros on new ski runs, lifts, snow making and upgrading existing ski areas over the next three years. Much of the money will go on the higher section of the ski area, beginning 300m vertical metres above the original...
