Eco village to be constructed near Bulgaria’s mountain town of Troyan

In April 2007, Bulgarian Ecoengineering-S company started the construction of eco village Azareia in Stara Planina Mountain, close to the town of Troyan.

Azraeia will function as a health and sports centre. Houses in Azareia village will have the typical for Ecoengineering S style pyramid structure.

Medieval Church Ruins Found Near Bulgaria's Tzarevetz Fortress

Bulgarian archaeologists found the remains of a medieval church, later turned into a bath, in the vicinity of Tzarevetz Fortress, wchich is the seat of the Bulgarian rulers in the Middle Ages.

The find is unique among the hundreds of Bulgarian medieval churches studied so far, said Konstantin Totev, the head of the local branch of the Archaeology Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, who is in charge of the dig.

“Archaeology Summer 2007” is Opened in Razgrad

Archaeological excavations in the ancient roman town Abritus start today – this was announced by the Regional History Museum. This summer two sites uncovered last summer will be studied – a residential building and a basilica. In September the excavation works will be moved to the Thracian mound near by the village of Topchii. 10 workers will support the archeologists from the Razgrad History Museum. Bulgaria is the Most Popular Tourist Destination among the New EU Members

Bulgaria is the most popular tourist destination amongst the newest countries-members in the EU.

For the period June - September, last year, the common number of night spent of local and foreign tourists amount to 11,6 million BGN (5,8 million EUR) which marks an increase of 3,1% compared to 2005.

Most of the spent nights - 82% were made by foreign tourists.

Malta takes first place with 97% of foreign tourists, followed by Luxembourg - 95% and Cyprus - 91%.

60 Million EUR to be Invested in Golf Course Construction near Bulgaria's Banya

Karlovo municipality and Banya Golf and Spa Resort will discuss the opportunity for developing the town of Banya as a resort.
The municipality council and the investor will discuss the possibility for a public-private partnership, Focus news agency reported.

Investment will reach 60 million euro for the period of several years.

The company to be created will have 34 per cent municipality ownership and 66 per cent shareholding of the private investor.
