Bulgaria Capable of Developing Elitte Tourism

According to the World Association Travel Agencies (WATA) Bulgaria had a “serious potential” to become a destination for elite tourism, WATA executive director Christine Fournier said on September 25 2007.

Fournier’s visited Bulgaria for the 2007 WATA General Assembly, which would be held in Sofia between November 15 and 17.

Tour operators from five continents would take part in the event in Sofia.

Revenues from foreign tourists visits to Bulgaria up by 16%

The revenues in Bulgaria coming from the visits of foreign tourists in the country have increased with 16.04% in the first half of 2007 compared with the same period last year, the National Tourist Agency said.

The revenues for the first six months from foreign tourists visits are EUR 1347,4 M, according to preliminary data. The number of tourists visiting Bulgaria from January to August has risen with 6.88%.

The Construction of Super Borovets Starts in October

After almost 2 years delay of the construction works on the project “Super Borovets”, it will finally start in October with the construction of the lift from Samokov to Markudjitsite. This became clear after the meeting of the board of directors of “Rila - Samokov” company, which will invest in the project.

Krasimir Gergov will invest in Momchilovtsi

Krasimir Gergov was chosen for leading investor of Sport – tourism centre “Momchilovtsi”. This was decided by the municipal council in Smolyan on its last session today.

Sky Europe to Connect Bulgaria to 11 European Cities

Low-cost airline Sky Europe launches new direct flights from Bulgaria to 11 European capitals and major cities in October 2007, Sky Europe commercial director Karim Maklouf said on September 24 2007.

The company would launch daily flights to Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Innsbruck and Warsaw. Flights three times per week would be launched to Thessaloniki, Venice and Nice. The company would fly four times a week to Krakow and Athens.
