Bulgaria's Balchik Palace Boasts BGN 1 M Profit

The palace at the coastal town of Balchik reported a profit of BGN 1 M for the summer of this year, a 100% increase over last year.
"The number of guests that visited the palace was twice as many as last year's 650,000," Toshko Gyaurov, director of the cultural institute, boasted.
Foreigners outnumbered by a large margin Bulgarian tourists and accounted for 70% of the total number of visitors.

Mountains & Hot Mineral Water Attract Tourists in Bulgaria's Sapareva Banya

The Rila mountains, hot mineral water, and the old Roman town Germaneya attract the tourists in Bulgarian resort of Sapareva Banya.

Sapareva Banya opened in 2006 an information tourism centre under the PHARE programme intended to provide information to tourists interested in visiting the sites on the territory of the municipality, Focus news agency reported.

Bulgarian Students Organize Fifth International Film Festival in Balchik

The fifth International Short Film Festival in Balchik, organised by Bulgarian university students, will take place between September 9 and 15 2007.

The event can be attended for free by all short film fans, according to Focus news agency.

The 2007 edition of the festival includes participants from 62 countries.

Belvedere opens Svilengrad area wine cellar

The Bulgarian unit of French wine and spirits group Belvedere Monday unveiled its Katarzyna Estate wine chateau in Mezek, a village close to the Bulgarian-Greek border in the Svilengrad region.

The 12 euro wine-producing property is surrounded by company-owned vineyards.

Katarzyna Estate comprises 365 ha of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, shiraz, mavrud, ruby cabernet, chardonnay and sauvignon blanc vineyards and several experimental lots with malbec and tempranillo.
