Well, once again Bansko proved to be one of the best winter resorts in Europe and the first one to officially open the winter fiesta on the slopes in Bulgaria.
Famous skiers, beautiful dancers, unique show and unforgettable fireworks warmed up all guests and residents of Bansko in this cold and foggy November day in the Pirin Mountain.

Bulgaria will spend more than 40 million BGN to advertise the attractions of the country in 2009. The budget of the State Tourism Agency is 10 million BGN but the total sum is much higher because of the “Regional development” program.

10.6 milion BGN will be invested in the media advertisement. 4.2 million BGN will be put into TV commercials on CNN International, Eurosport and Euronews. Another 4 million BGN are allocated to short movies, which will be emitted in Russia and Scandinavian...

Sport centre Chepleare has prepared a total 20 km ski slopes for the tourists this year.
One of the main slopes is “the red” and it is 3250 meters long. It will be equipped with snow cannons for artificial snow.

The other is green and is around 6 km long. Skiers will have the chance to try several shorter slopes of different difficulty.
Snowboarders will enjoy 1,2 km “red” slope with deep snow.

The winter centre of Chepelare is entirely renewed and will be officially opened by the end...

The official opening of the ski season in Bansko will take place on Saturday, 29th of November. World famous skiers will show their skills on “Alberto Tomba” ski slope.

The olympics champions Hanni Wenzel and Andreas Wenzel, the world downhill champion Harti Weirather, the Italian ski legend Gustavo Thoeni and the multiple winner of the World Cup, Marc Girardelli will be the participants in the ski demonstrations.

Heavy snowfall covered three - thirds of Bulgaria. The now cover in Sofia is 10 cm, 12 in Kyustendil.

Snow is falling on the Aleko peak in the Vitosha Mountain and in Borovets mountain resort, and along the highest parts of the mountains in Bulgaria including the Todorka peak in Bansko. Meteorologists forecast higher temperatures for the next two days, which will be followed by a cold front.
