Bulgaria's Coastal Burgas Welcomes First Batch of Tourists for 2008

The airport at the Black sea town of Burgas welcomed on Sunday with an official ceremony the first group of foreign tourists for the new season aboard a low-cost Sterling airlines plane.

The passengers took off from the airport in Copenhagen and after landing in Burgas were transported to the Sunny Beach resort.

French Tourists Interested in Bulgaria's Preserved Wild Nature

The French people show big interest to the possibilities for tourism in regions with preserved wild nature in Bulgaria, reported from the Environmental Ministry.

They are looking for such information on the Bulgarian stand at the ecological exposition ‘Directions to Nature' that take place in Paris, France.

At the exposition people can find info about the three National Parks ‘Rila', ‘Pirin' and ‘Central Balkan', the 11 Natural Parks, many preserved flora and fauna species, possibilities...

Exhibition Gathers Europe's Best Cats in Sofia

Bulgarian cat lovers enjoyed a chance to see the best breeds from across Europe in a traditional feline exhibition in Sofia that started on Saturday.

Three foreign judges from the International Feline Federation FIFe will value the merits of the cats, which include three-month-old baby kittens, as well as bidders for European champions.

The two-day exhibition, organised by the National Federation of Felinology is hosted by the Earth and People museum in downtown Sofia.

Ancient Shoumen Fortress to Become Second Tzarevetz

The fortress at the Shoumen plateau (Northeastern Bulgaria) could be transformed into a second Tzarevetz, the famous Veliko Turnovo's Medieval fortress.

The mayor of Shoumen Krassimir Kostov plans the fortress to be restored into its original size.

The initial sum for the implementation of the project is around 416, 000 EUR. Shoumen local government is ready to spend 63, 000 EUR.
