Sofia Zoopark will become home to the first lepidopterium on the Balkans when it opens on March 15. The butterflies are arriving at their new home four days earlier, on Tuesday, from Indonesia and Colombia.

The General Assembly of the Sommeliers will be held from May 15 to May 20 in Sofia. Experts in the branch will vie in the World Sommelier's Competition. For the first time the prestigious contest will take place outside France. Bulgaria has won a 4-year-long competition for host of the event. The forum is held under the patronage of Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov.

Finnish rock band Apocalyptica, renowned for their fusion of classical and metal music played on cellos, will open the summer tourist season in Kavarna, on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast on May 31.

The concert will be free of charge and held in the town's marketplace, the town hall said on March 6, as quoted by Bulgarian news agency (BTA). Apocalyptica will return to Kavarna, which is firmly entrenched as the Mecca of heavy rock music in Bulgaria, having previously played there on June 1...
