Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Alice Cooper on Stage in Sofia

Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Alice Cooper, Apocalyptica and Mastodon will participate in the second edition of Sonisphere Festival in Bulgaria.

The organizers from Balkan Entertainment announced Thursday that this year, the festival will be held only one day – June 21. It will be staged at the hippodrome in the town of Bankya, 10 km west of Sofia.

The Winners of 'Bulgaria's Miracles' Contest are:

The award ceremony for the winners of the Bulgaria's Miracles contest was held on 09 March 2011.

The initiative belongs to the Bulgarian daily "Standart." The ceremony was held Wednesday evening at the National History Museum under the patronage of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov. The guests included politicians, intellectuals and journalists.

Bulgaria Ranked 48th Globally in Tourism Competitiveness

Bulgaria is 48th in terms of travel and tourism competitiveness out of 139 countries, according to a report of the World Economic Forum.

The WEF ranking evaluates the countries according to 14 different criteria – from infrastructure and safety to regulatory framework and human, cultural, and natural resources.

Switzerland, Germany, France, Austria, and Sweden take up the top five spots. Tunisia and Israel are right in front of Bulgaria, while Turkey and Poland are right after...

Srebarna museum asks UNESCO for finantial support

The mayor of Silistra - Ivo Andonov has sent a letter to the General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova asking for help with the renovation of the Srebarna Museum of Natural Sciences, part of the Srebarna Nature Reserve.

180 000 lv. were invested for an inside repair of the building and of the exhibition in 2009 and 2010. Unfortunately, the roof has started to leak. The show-windows also need renovation. The museum needs 250 000 lv. to be ready for the opening of the tourist season.

Bicycle route to be opened along the Danube river

A bicycle route is to be built along the Bulgarian and Romanian banks of the Danube river until 2013, Building and Real Estates weekly reported. The project called Danube bicycle route is to be financed by the program for international cooperation between Bulgaria and Romania.
