The price of 1 kg Bulgarian rose flower will go up to the levels of 1.80 to 1.90 BGN ( about 1 Euro), according to the information of the rose producers in the city of Kazanlak.

The prices are rising because of the scarcity of free work hand and the low volumes of roses per decare grown this year. The rose-picking season is over already with realized 300 kg per decare.

The whole land sown with roses this year is 35,000 decares in the area of Kazanlak city.

Bulgaria-registered Eurobridge, backed by a Portuguese investment fund and German construction company Herrenknecht, will build a tunnel under the Danube river to connect Bulgaria and Romania, reports news agency SeeNews. The contractors have signed a preliminary agreement for the implementation of the project which will have to be okayed by the environment and construction authorities in both countries. The traditional passenger line between Svishtov and the Romanian town of Zimnich has officially opened on June 05, announced from BTV.

The first passengers were 150 Romanian children, who came to Bulgaria to celebrate 1 June, the International Children's Day.

The Danube connection between Svishtov and Zimnich is revived after more than 10 year interruption. The 150-seat ship “Vihren” will transport passengers from one shore to the other in only 15 minutes.

26 cruise liners are to visit the sea port of Varna this season. 6 of them have already passed through the sea capital of Bulgaria.

According to the sea port master in Varna - Captain Valentin Kitanov this season the port will welcome more tourist compared to last year. On 26 April the first liner “Victoria” arrived. Then the Holland “Rotterdam”, “Spirit of Adventure” and the Israel “Iris” followed. Now the sailing exhibits of the Turkish ferry “Samsun” are taking place in Varna.

Queen of Roses for 2007 is the 19th- year-old Lora Georgieva. Her crowning started the official opening of the 2007 Rose Festival in Kazanlak city in Bulgaria.

Traditionally each year the beautiful celebrations for the blossom of the roses take place in the first week of June. The ceremonies recreate the legend of the divine origin of the Queen of Roses. Many celebrations, dances and a crown procession of the queen take place in Kazanlak.
