IKEA to open hyperstore in Bulgaria in 2009

The Swedish furniture company IKEA will open one of its largest stores in the Bulgarian capital Sofia in the second half of 2009.

The news was reported by the Bulgarian newspaper Pari Daily, which cites the Greek publication Imersia.

The Greek company Froulis, which is IKEA's authorized licensee in the region, is planning to open three furniture stores in the Balkans in 2009, and a total of 11-12 IKEA stores by 2013, two of which will be located in Bulgaria.

Multimedia Bulgaria on CNN

CNN International will include Bulgaria in its Sights & Sounds online and TV advertising campaign as it seeks to build on the existing Bulgarian tourism TV advertising campaign on the channel, the broadcaster said in a statement.

Bulgaria tourism’s Sights & Sounds campaign was launched live to a global audience via CNN’s television feed for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, as well as its international website, cnn.com/international, on March 10.

Folklore Groups from 5 Continents in Veliko Tarnovo

Veliko Tarnovo is hosting the XI International Folklore Festival, which starts on 19 July and continues till 02 August. This year the event will gather 16 international ensembles. As a tradition they will stage in open at Marno Pole City Park.

Milcho Leviev plays on Perelik peak

A Stage of 3,000 Straw Bales to be built at 2,190 meters for Leviev's concert


Bulgarian jazz musician Milcho Leviev again will be on top. He will play with Plovdiv Big Band on July 19 on Perelik peak in the Rhodopes where a unique facility will be built for better acoustics. The special wall won't be built with conventional construction materials but with bales of straw arranged as a chessboard. Sozopol marks its official holiday today – the day of St. Marina

Sozopol is considered the oldest town along in Bulgaria with 2700 years old history. This was announced by Mr. Bozhidar Dimitrov, head of the National History Museum, who was born in Sozopol.
