Bulgaria to boost National Tourist Sites to 150

The list of so-called National Tourist Sites, currently numbering 100, is set to be increased to 150, announced Bulgarian vice-Minister for Tourism Ivo Marinov.

The list of 100 National Tourist Sites was created in 1966 and includes most of Bulgaria's most popular natural formations and cultural and historic destinations, such as some of the more famous mountain peaks, waterfalls, museums and memorials.

Largest Bulgarian resorts acquire new status

Bulgaria's national resorts will be declared "settlements with particular status" with unified urban planning and management.

The information was reported by the daily Standard, citing Deputy Minister in charge of Tourism, Ivo Marinov.

May Flower Festival in St. St. Konstantin and Elena

In the period from 18th to 24th of May in the resort St. St. Constantine & Elena will be held the fourth May Festival of Flowers.

Bulgarian hotel revenues up 2% Q1 2011 Y/Y

The total number of accommodation facilities in Bulgaria - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and others increased by 1.9% in the first quarter of 2011, compared to the same period of 2010.

Meanwhile, rooms and beds in them decreased by 5.1% and by 6.8% respectively.

The data was released Tuesday by the National Statistics Institute, NSI.

Bulgaria to open world centre for wild game’s health

Bulgaria will open a world reference centre for the health of wild game, announced Bernard Loze, president of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC), during the 58th CIC congress in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Mr. Loze said that the centre would be the first of its kind.

The project is developed by CIC, the World Organization for Animal Health and should be completed by the end of the year.

The project will popularize the hunting tourism in Bulgaria.
