The tourists in the Black Sea resort of Kavarna are from 8 to 10 percent more on last year.

These are mostly holidaymakers from the former Soviet republics, as well as Romanians.

Kavarna is getting ready for the Fish & Mussels Festival held in early September as a way to prolong the summer season. This year it opens on 2 Sept.

The archaeological excavations at the Bulgarian Black Sea Kaliakra cape have been renewed at the beginning of August, immediately yielding more artifacts.

The information was reported by the Head of the archeological team, Boni Pertunova, from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

Until now, the researchers have already discovered 20 gold objects – mostly jewelry as well as silver...

Data from the Bulgarian National Statistical Institute (NSI) is confirming the various reports that Bulgaria's tourism sector is enjoying a very strong summer season in 2011.

The total revenue from tourist accommodation (i.e. hotel room and apartment stays) in Bulgaria in the second quarter of 2011 reached BGN 165.3 M, an increase of 14.4% year-on-year compared with the same quarter of 2010, NSI announced Thursday.

37 guest houses in Bulgaria have the certificate "Green House", the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism (BAAT) reported.

The certificate guarantees the visitors that homes that have it, fulfill the EU criteria for quality accommodation, where the negative impact of the environment is minimized.

The hosts of the green houses are mostly families from the local community who know their region and are able to introduce their guests the beauty of the surrounding countryside.
