The much-anticipated expansion of Bulgarian ski resort Borovets, dubbed the Super Borovets project, is set to finally get underway on Monday with the ground-breaking ceremony for a lift connecting the city of Samokov with the Markudjik ski runs.

The local Hotel Investment company has launched a new hotel in Varna, on the Black Sea, which will target affluent Western travellers. The Internet-ready Modus hotel has 35 rooms and a 30-seat conference room. Hotel Investment said it will manage the 1.5 mln euro hotel but did not rule out the possibility that it may join one of the international hotel chains that have entered the Bulgarian market. The start of the “Super Borovets” project will be marked on Monday. The head of the national fund of Oman varit Murbak Said Al Harusi will participate on the event. Not long ago the National Company bought part of the project. The other investor is Equest. The Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev and Ahmed Dogan will also participate. The project plans the construction of 40 km new pistes, lifts and drag lifts, sports equipment and hotels.

ETC-president Arthur Oberascher: "Tourism is Europe’s face to the world”, proclaimed Arthur Oberascher, president of the thirty-eight member European Travel Commission (ETC). He went on to say, “the ‘new Europe’ is a vital part of Europe’s appeal”. It was thus particularly appropriate that the ETC was holding its semi-annual meetings in the Bulgarian capital.

'Skate Zagora' 2007 skateboarding competition will take place in the local skateboarders' favorite city for riding - Stara Zagora.
The event will take place оn Friday and Saturday, October 5-6.

On Fiday will be performed demo in front of the municipality building. On the next day will be leaded the contest. It will start at 11.30h and will be divided in 3 rounds: qualifications, semifinal and final.
