Expedition to Examine Ancient Thracian Cities in Bulgaria

A major archaeological campaign examining the ancient Thracian cities of Perperikon and Tatul will start on May 28, expedition leader Nikolay Ovcharov said.

Perperikon is located in the eastern Rhodope Mountain region, 15km from the town of Kurdzhali. The ancient town is thought to have been a sacred place. Perperikon is the largest megalith ensemble on the Balkans.

We Have Been Waiting for This Bridge for Years

Bulgaria and Romania agreed that they need a second bridge across the Danube, signed a contract to construct it seven years ago, but actually started building it only this week.

"We have been waiting for this bridge for years," Bulgarian truck driver Nikolay Haylesov says angrily. His comment reflects the view of thousands of his colleagues from across Europe.

Bulgaria defines spa, wellness and business tourism

The Cabinet approved regulations on May 10 to govern the definition of spa, wellness and business hotels and the number of stars that they may be awarded.
Before the ordinance was amended, there was no specific regulation governing the issue and any hotel could describe itself as a spa or wellness hotel.
The ordinance, drafted by the State Agency for Tourism (SAT) also sets out the conditions that will apply to such places of accommodation.

Wind Power Plants in Dobrich and Kavarna, Bulgaria

In March 2007 the member states of the European union arrived at an agreement to raise the share of the energy produced by renewable energy sources to 20% by 2020. For Bulgaria the short-term objective of 10% renewable energies by 2010 is no easy task.
